Datuk Kabi’ denies four more cheating charges

GEORGE TOWN - PENANG - MALAYSIA: The man who goes by the name “Datuk Kabi” has claimed trial to four more counts of cheating to add to the three he was already charged with in the past few days.



The new charges against Kamaleshwaran A/L Chitravelu, 29, are that he allegedly cheated:

> S. Gobalakrishnan, 35, by inducing him to deposit RM1,750 into his RHB Bank account as supposed payment for a Proton Waja at the Soho Beach Club in Batu Ferringhi here at 9pm in April 2003;

> Fiesal Amdan, 35, of a Honda Civic by inducing him into believing that an AmBank cheque for RM20,000 as purported payment was genuine at the ground floor of Sunnyville in Jalan Batu Uban, Sungai Nibong, on Sept 6, 2004;

> Abdul Razak Hamid, 49, of a Toyota Harrier by inducing him into believing that an AmBank cheque for RM135,000 as purported payment was genuine at a unit in Sunnyville on July 29, 2004; and

> S. Puvaneswaran, 32, of a Proton car by inducing him into believing that an AmBank cheque for RM30,000 as purported payment was genuine at a food outlet in Green Lane at 11.30am on Sept 3, 2004.

He was allowed bail ranging from RM5,000 to RM7,500 for each charge.

Feb 10 has been fixed for mention of the cases.

Kamaleshwaran had in the past few days been charged with three counts of cheating involving three cars worth RM267,000, and was allowed bail totalling RM23,000.
